Instructors from the 2010 Midwest Tai Kai

Tai Kai is a Japanese phrase roughly translated as "big meeting" or "great event". The focus of the various Bujinkan Tai Kai events throughout the world is to foster a sense of community. At the 2011 Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai, taijutsu instructors from all over the midwestern United States will demonstrate their unique visions on a variety of taijutsu themes. In this way, we all deepen our understanding of each other as well as the Budo that we are sharing.

We in the Bujinkan are fortunate to have a large bank of experienced people training in the United States. They have many different outlooks on life and training, and represent just as many different training styles and practice methodologies. This year's Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai will focus on the yearly theme of Kihon Happo.

Location

This year's Bujinkan Midwest Tai Kai will take place at the Holiday Inn hotel in Crystal Lake, Illinois, about an hour's drive northwest of Chicago. The changing of location every year to a different region of the Midwest allows the greatest proliferation of training and ideas and helps to build connections all across the Midwest.

Not for profit

All of the instructors are volunteers and are not being paid for their commitment and participation. All funds collected for the Midwest Tai Kai go to pay for the venue and related services. Any profits will be donated towards the Japan tsunami disaster relief effort. This spirit of community and a commitment to its growth is one of the most unique and special aspects of the Midwest Tai Kai Philosophy!

Hatsumi Soke has directed us to be sure to train with good people, with good hearts. Come together with us and celebrate the vision that everyone from past Tai Kai events have helped to create!
